Probably the most popular occasion celebrated at the Grange is a 40th birthday. The house is the venue for several every year. The accommodation we offer is ideal for any special occasion but they are particularly well suited to a large family group. There is plenty to enjoy for all generations, from the cupboard full of children's toys, to the full size snooker for the grown ups. There's table tennis for all and of course, the pool. Then again, if the kids get a little too noisy there are lots of places to get away from it all, as the house is so big. And if you need even more space there are three acres of lovely gardens to explore.

Ilfracombe has the famous 'Tunnels Beaches' - created by the Victorians, as well as the harbour. But probably the biggest beach draw in the area is Woolacombe; miles of glorious sand await! But if you want more, Croyde and Saunton won't disappoint either. For those looking for a more interesting beach we'd thoroughly recommend Lee Bay - great for rock pooling and walks, and the village is extremely pretty.

Bicclescombe Grange is a self catering holiday home party venue, but we are often asked if we can provide catering, usually for one special evening meal, but sometimes for more. And yes, we can! If you look on our Things to do page, check the 'Catering' box, then the 'Food and Drink' box, and you'll see a list of caterers. Most have websites showing menus and prices and most have catered for parties at the Grange on several occasions - and always successfully as far as we know.

We have young children. We know what it's like! Which is why we've tried to make the accommodation just right for families. The kids will love it! There are loads and loads of toys - a whole walk-in cupboard full of them, suitable for all ages. There's a slide and playhouse in the garden and a choice of scooters, bikes, roller skates... And on a practical level there are four cots, a high chair, baby monitor and changing station. And all the televisions have integral DVD players! If you can get them out of the pool though, and then tear them away from the Sky tv...

In our opinion the accommodation is too big to be called a cottage, but we get so many enquiries from people that have been searching for large cottages to rent that we must believe that even if your holiday vision was of the traditional chocolate box cottage, you'll still be tempted by the accommodation we can offer. And after all, there aren't many chocolate boxes that can sleep 23 people!

We think the house is best suited for a large family party, or for several families sharing. Some rooms have more than one bed and two have bunk beds. Please look over The House description and floor plans to ensure the house accommodation will be perfect for your requirements. The facilities are great for groups of all generations, and we keep adding more!

The main reason we bought the Grange and made it available as a holiday home party venue to rent! In 2002 we were one of three families with children wanting to go away somwhere together and we found such a small choice or prperties. And of course the best ones were all booked up well in advance. Large groups of 12 or more looking for a large self catering house at least now have one more place to choose from!

No, sorry, we don't have a hot tub or a sauna yet. But we are planning on putting them in! We've been hampered by power issues and need to upgrade our supply first. Which means digging up the drive... But it will happen at some point as we think that looking across the valley, or down across the town to the sea, whilst sipping champagne and relaxing in the hot tub sounds just about right!

Well no, it's not a proper library, but we do have a fair collection of books in case you forgot or have finished yours. Books for all ages, and of all types. And if you don't finish it and can't bear to leave it behind by all means take it home with you. If you could replace it with something similar though it would be much appreciated and will mean that future guests still have a good choice. There are several second hand and new book shops in the High Street.

We have 8 bedrooms which sleep 23 people. But we are equally suitable for parties looking for a large house venue which sleeps 12, sleeps 13, sleeps 14, sleeps 15, sleeps 16, sleeps 17, sleeps 18, sleeps 19, sleeps 20, sleeps 21 and sleeps 22. Our most popular search term for sleeping capacity is sleeps 16, though we usually end up accommodating larger parties and on average we sleep 20. There are 17 separate beds, so if you don't mind sharing a room we can accommodate a large group of adults only. We don't take groups of solely young adults, but other parties are welcome.

Yes, it is full sized! What better way to while away the evening hours... that's what we think anyway, when we do it! The games room also has darts and the piano.

40th birthdays are the most popular event but our venue has also accommodated many 30th Birthday Parties and 50th Birthday Parties. Every age in fact, even quite a few 80ths! Wedding anniversaries are also well suited to the house and we did in fact attend our own parents' Golden Wedding anniversary in 2010.

We accepted our first hen party with some trepidation in 2006 and our first stag do the year after. We've had several more hen and stag do's since and, surprising as it might seem, with no problems. Quite the reverse in fact. We think people are so aware that a lot of properties turn away such groups that they take that much more care to look after anywhere that they are welcomed. If you would like the Grange to be the venue for your stag or hen party then you won't be disappointed! The house has fantastic facilities, but there is also plenty in the surrounding area to make such an event truly memorable. Quad biking, go karting, clay pigeon shooting, riding, surfing, coasteering, climbing and paintball for example.

We have world renowned surfing beaches just ten minutes from the house, at Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton. If you're a beginner there are plenty of surf shops to hire or buy equipment, or take a few lessons. And if the surfing gets a little tiring, the miles of golden sands offer a perfect opportunity to recover, and to top up the tan.

Our swimming pool is 40ft long by 20ft wide and ranges from 3ft to 9ft deep. It's an indoor heated pool, heated to 31 degrees all year round, which is a lot warmer than most public pools. The pool is joined to the main house so there is no need to go outside. There is a wet room off of the pool area where you can shower and change. We don't specifically provide inflatables but there are usually some available, along with several swimming goggles, arm bands and various other swimming aids.
